TECHNICAL FAQ

This aim of this section is to provide answers to the most common support related questions that we recieve. Answers to the majority of your questions are likely to be answered in the help files that come installed with SMS Server. If you cannot find an answer to your query do not hesitate to contact one of our friendly support advisors.

General Guidelines

  • If you are using the Internet transport then you need to ensure ports 4100 and 4101 are open for TCP traffic from your LAN to the WAN.
  • If you are using the client for Microsoft Outlook, the Outlook must be in Corporate/Workgroup mode.
  • When configuring an ODBC address book, be sure to define the DSN used as a System DSN. Only system DSNs are listed in the configuration options for the address book.

Unsupported installation scenarios:

  • 1. SMS Server does not support being installed on an NT4 Server in a Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 domain.
  • 2. SMS Server does not support being installed on a Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Terminal Server as a remote application.
